Legend says you can only find this distillery when you fall off the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. A Brigadoon, doomed, if you will.
It is said you first see this disturbed forgotten place by a hidden limestone river; the water grabbed in the moment by haunted wooden turbines.
There's a "warm" orange glow originating from the broken building, and it's deceiving, like the darkened aged color of this dastardly, incredibly cool t-shirt.
If you walk into this dilapidated cabin bar, make sure you have a loaded gun or at least a strong, sharp knife, and a determined hard-edged soul. The bartender is beautiful and mysterious. She wears a lace corset that you might see in a New Orleans saloon. But on closer look, the eyes are dark, no whites in the eyes. Other-worldly gorgeous. But beware, who knows what the hell lurks here.
"What do you want," she says, clearly not particularly asking.
"What is the house bourbon?" you ask, up to the challenge.
She drops a glass down hard on the bar. "What other distilleries have you been to on the trail," she pretty-much demands.
"Evan Williams, Four Roses, James B. Beam, Maker's Mark, Michter... Angel's Envy..."
A chill.
You know you hit a nerve at that moment. "Are you familiar with the angel's share?" you ask.
"We do not offer it," she replies.
"I went to Heaven Hill," you go for the close: "'Lifting America's Spirit since 1935."
"Are you gonna drink your drink?" she only answers. "Or try to escape while you have the chance."
You ponder the pour. "What's your name?"
"Arabella."
"Pour yourself one too."
She does and you both drink, for better or for worse. Bourbon is known for its bite; a wheated version of the spirit this was not. It was cold and it was harsh; it was something you should only drink once in a great while, for fear of permanently falling deeply off the Bourbon Trail. At least 135 proof, no doubt about it.
You got this tee at her gift shop. You bought it and escaped. You hightailed it outta there and lived to tell this story.
But she still lives in your dreams. You wash and wear this tee to make it soft and memorable. The lipstick smudge grows fainter but the colors of this t-shirt do not.
Cheers.
