Gus McCrae walks into a bar with his friend and says to the bartender:

'"I'd like a shot of whiskey and so would my companion, if it ain't  too much trouble."

Captain Augustus "Gus" McCrae is a former Texas Ranger, with a "fondness for alcohol, gambling and whores." "Rye will do, provided it gets here quick."

The bartender insults him, "You darn cowboys oughta broom yourselves off before you walk in here. I got all the sand we need without customers bringing it in."

 He shouldn't have said that because McCrae, played by Robert Duvall in the TV series adaptation of Lonesome Dove, paid his dollar and slammed the bartender's nose into the bar. He said: "And besides the whiskey I think we'll require a little respect."

It's hard to separate the history of America's whiskey, bourbon, with the cowboy of the west, and this t-shirt, a classic legendary label is a perfect homage. They were salt of the earth, taming the American West frontier.

Cowboys were indeed dusty with sand, riding into town to replenish supplies and quench their thirst. On the plains, there were beans and cowboy chords.

John Wayne starred in 1972's The Cowboys, but there's no shortage of films with the Duke in that life. Red River is Howard Hawk's 1948 classic starring Wayne as Thomas Dunson, running a Texas cattle ranch, with protégé Matt Garth(Montgomery Cliff) and Groot (Walter Brennan), long before the Groot of Marvel Comics fame.

Martin Scorsese says Red River was the inspiration for his scene in Goodfellas, where Henry Hill walks across the street to defend the honor of his girlfriend, Karen. The scene is shot in the same way.
